George W. Bush’s new memoir report – my interpretation

While I understand what The Telegraph is saying about Bush’s book, I also read it like this…

He said he initially thought that one of the hijacked flights, United Airlines Flight 93 that came down in Pennsylvania, had been shot down on his orders.

He didn’t have a handle on what was happening as there were no fighter jets in the air that were anywhere near Flight 93. If he thought it had been shot down, he clearly didn’t know where all his jets weren’t.

he discloses how he received a “wrenching” letter from Nancy Reagan but ultimately felt a “responsibility to voice my pro-life convictions

Dearest Nancy Reagan, No. You cannot harvest babies to keep Ron alive.

the Pope, during a meeting in 2001, had asked him to support life in all its forms.

The Pope asked George to basically stop killing people in a diplomatic way. George bombed the hell out of shit anyway.

During the pontiff’s funeral Mr Bush said a prayer for Peter Jennings, the cancer-stricken US television anchor

Praying for Peter Jennings at Pontiff’s funeral sounds like the work of a man who has no idea what he is doing or where he is or why he’s there.

the president bonded with Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at his Texas ranch, after the prince saw a turkey on the road and took it as a good omen.

George, Crown Prince Abdullah was taking the piss.
